Since the St. Petersburg premiere in 1892, “The Nutcracker Ballet” has been entrancing audiences. “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and “The Waltz of the Flowers” still enchant the young and the young at heart. This year marks Robert Crown Center’s 34th presentation of the ballet on ice skates, rather than ballet slippers. The storyline and beautiful music remain the same, but the costumes, special effects and lighting are more spectacular each year!
Nutcracker on Ice will be performed at Robert Crown Community Center and Ice Complex, 1701 Main St., Evanston. Shows are Friday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2:30 p.m. We recommend buying tickets in advance. All general admission tickets are $8.50; all reserved seats are $9.50. A 50¢ discount per ticket is available for a group purchasing 10 or more tickets to a single performance.
